5545 ASA Dual Harddrives

On 5545's ASA they have two hard drive slots (for mirroring I was told), but will they work if I only insert one drive into them? IF so do I lose any functionality with only one drive?

It will work with only one.

When the second is added and the appliance reloaded, it will be detected and automatically be mirrored with the first one on a RAID 1 array.
