Has anyone tried to run IOS IPS in a 7206vxr NPE-G1 router? How's the performance (max throughput) like? How much CPU increase after turning on the IPS?
IPS is done in software on the Cisco 7200 Series platform, which will increase latency. Also, from a functional standpoint, the Cisco 7200 platform can't do the same things as a standalone IPS appliance.
