8.4.1 vs. 8.4.2 for the ASA

I am working at a client site today.  The IT Admin on the site asked me what the latest codes were for the ASA, and whether they were GD or ED.

I explained to him that 8.4.x had not been out long (moving from 8.3.2) and that 8.4.2 was the latest.  He asked me to find out about 8.4.1, as I think he has some fears about 8.4.2 being an ED release.

I was thinking he SHOULD use 8.4.2, as they would have fixed some bugs in 8.4.1.

Can I get input from those of you whom would be qualified to speak and elaborate on this?  Should he use 8.4.2?

Thank You

Kevin

There are many considerations.

One is to check the release notes

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa84/release/notes/asarn84.html

See if there are any new must have features, like Identity Firewall, or any important bugfixes, or any outstanding bugs that might cause an issue for the curent environment.

I'm running 8.4(2) at several sites w/o issue, but each environment and its requirements are different.
