Abandoning Router IPS Modules?

Heath Mote

I attended an IPS training a few weeks back where the instructor said that Cisco would be abandoning the option of having IPS modules in routers.  Is this the case?

Yes, that' right. The NM-IPS was announced EOS/EOL two months ago, but I think the AIM-IPS for the ISR-G1 is not announced EOS/EOL yet.

That is a bummer. I ordered the IPS NME K9 module along with a 2911 ISR last year. They make for a great combination within a small business environment at a reasonable cost. Once again, I am nuged in a direction to have to spend more money for a solution where current products fit the bill quite nicely.

Such is the deal I suppose......
