About Cisco Firepower 1120

Good morning,

We need to replace our old  firewall in the company, and we are considering purchasing the Cisco 1120 firewall or an equivalent (the important thing is that it is a recent product). Since we have no experience with Cisco, is there someone who can briefly explain the following: Apart from the hardware, what licenses/packages are necessary to keep the firmware and the signatures for IPS - antivirus of the firewall up to date?

Where can I find information about the end-of-life support for this product?

Thank you all for your patience.

Have a great day.

Giuseppe

@Brunetta7 there is no EOL information for the 1120 hardware, however the 1200 series hardware is newer and high spec (similar price).

Check the hardware specification to compare. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/firepower-1000-series/datasheet-c78-742469.html and https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/firewalls/secure-firewall-1200-series-ds.html

Refer to this guide for the different Firepower licensing options - https://secure.cisco.com/secure-firewall/docs/smart-licensing

In addition to the specific license subscriptions, you would need to purchase support contract.

I would recommend using central management with the Firepower Management Centre (FMC) either on premise (VM or physical hardware) or use the cloud option cdFMC. You get more functionality if you use the FMC than you do if managing the FTD locally. https://secure.cisco.com/secure-firewall/docs/cloud-delivered-firewall-management-center
