AIP-SSM-20 Upgrade from E1 to E4

Hi All,

I have  IPS module installed on ASA5520  , the IPS is running 6.0(3)E1 , when tried to do signature update it fails because teh signature file is for E4 .

I would like to upgrade the engine to the latest in order to be able to update the signature.The latest release  is 7.1(6)E4   ,  as per the release note , the minimum requirements is to have 6.0(6) or later .

I need an advice here ..

shall I upgrade first to 6.0(6) , then to  7.1(6)E4  , or just consider upgrading to 7.0(8)E4 ?  

will I lose the configuration when I upgrade the image.

can you upgrade to 7.0(8)E4 directly from 6.0(3)E1? If you can do that, then either way will be the same and you will end up with the latest release which is 7.1(6)E4, because you will want to have the latest software and signature on your IPS.
