Allowing SMTP AUTH through Pix

Hi all,

I have a customer who has a PIX 515E, 2 interfaces (inside and outside). He has an SMTP server on the inside network. I've permitted the necessary couduit to allow SMTP from the outside to the SMTP server. Mailguard is enabled (fixup protocol 25).

Everything is working fine, but now my customer wants to allow SMTP AUTH commands to his SMTP server.

Short of turning off Mailguard ( a bad idea in my opinion), is there a way to allow SMTP AUTH from the outside network to the SMTP server?

Thanks!

Hi,

If SMTP auth not included in the 7 commands as defined by standard SMTP RFC, then No, not possible. you have to turn off fixup smtp.

Thanks
