With upgrading the IPS from 6.0 to 7.0, the easiest is to upgrade it via the IDM as follows:
Configuration --> Sensor Management --> UpdateSensor --> Update is located on this client --> upload the upgrade package from your desktop --> click on the "Update Sensor" button
With upgrading the ASA from 7.2 to 8.2.2 (asa822-k8.bin), you can upgrade it via ASDM or CLI as follows:
ASDM --> Tools --> Upgrade Software from Local Computer --> Image to Upload: ASA --> browse to your local computer and upload the ASA image --> Update Image --> and reload after saving the configuration and changing the boot system.
CLI --> copy tftp flash:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa82/command/reference/c4.html#wp2143863
Then set the boot system: boot system flash:/asa822-k8.bin
Hope that helps.
