So we have an application that uses a floating IP, think of HSRP. The IP stays with a certain server but if it has issues for some reason, it floats over to the other server. When this happens my ASA see's this as an arp collision.
<188>Jun 07 2017 03:25:44: %ASA-4-405001: Received ARP request collision from 10.10.5.5/0050.5687.0757 on interface private with existing ARP entry 10.10.5.5/0050.5687.7010
So, the ASA is taking its normal precaustions. On the network side, is there anything I can do to prevent this other than clearing the arp entry.
This is for a fault tolerant system, so this failover has to work. I'm thinking of asking them to see if they can use the same MAC on both servers for that IP, not sure if they can or not.
Thanks!
