ASA 5506-X not accepting ip address command

Waterbird

I have a new ASA5506-X.

I have confirmed it is in routed mode.

I used the ASDM start up wizard and CLI, but either way it will not allow changing of the IP address on the inside interfaces.

For the CLI, I entered:

config t

interface g1/2

no shut

security-level 100

ip address 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0

All of the commands took fine except for the last one it did not even recognized "ip address" as a command while in interface configuration mode.

Also in the ASDM start up wizard, on the step where you select and interface and click the edit button, the edit button simply does not even respond and does not bring up the edit dialog page.

Any theories as to why the device is not even recognizing ip address as a command while in interface configuration mode, but it is recognizing other basic interface configuration mode commands such as security-level 100?

I'm using version 9.8(2), with device manager version 7.8(2) and firepower 2.2(2.52)

Thanks

By default ASA 5506 interfaces are members of bridge-group 1. You need to undo that to assign an IP address to an individual interface (making it a routed interface).
