ASA 5510 load balancer issue.

I am having an issue with an ASA 5510 device and web load balancers.

Currently in places is a sonic wall which needs to be replaced with an ASA 5510.

The sonic wall works just fine with the load balancers.

If we put the ASA in place with the same configuration outside the connections can come in, the first connection works just fine but they hang after the secound connection.

This continues to happen even after rebooting the load blancers and the ASA device.

The issue being the sonic wall works with the load balancers and not the ASA device leads us to think that its a possible configuration issue on the ASA.

So my question are:

What would you suggest to trouble shoot this step further?

What should we look for in the pix devices for symptoms of this issue?

Hi Lance,

What does the topology look like? Is the ASA in front of or behind the load balancer?

I would start by taking a look at syslogs generated when the connections are failing. Packet captures on either side of the ASA would also be useful to see how it is affecting the connections.

Other than that, we would need to understand more of how the connections are supposed to work and what about them is failing (i.e. connections are timing out, packets are being dropped, etc.) to come up with a better action plan for troubleshooting.
