I received a used ASA 5510 from a friend, when I plug it in everything comes on but when I log into the CLI I get no output at all I verified the com ports are correct, is it broke? or Do I need to tried and re-image both internal and external flash drives and if so with what version?

I would ensure your console connection works with another device. If you are 100 percent your serial connection is configured correctly, you can actually reset the CMOS with a jumper. I actually had to do this once when a 5510 never came back up. Unscrew the cover and on the motherboard you'll see a couple of jumper pins that will allow you to clear the CMOS.

Thanks I never tried that but my serial connection works fine with all my other devices, also I am a senior network eng/manager., and I telecommute so I am building a SOHO environment, my equipment 2 1841 routers, ASA5510, Netgear Pro-Safe FVS318Gv2, Cisco 3750 (no POE), Linksys SRW2024 switch, Linksys SLM2008 switch, ASUS AC-RT3100 running Merlin DD-WRT, several TRENDnet Tew-653AP, 2 Cisco 1242AP's, and finally Cisco 7942 VoIP phone. I know allot of stuff, plus I have SolarWinds Eng. Toolset, Windows Home Server, my home is approx. 7,000sqft.

I have a Verizon Jetpack I can use for LB or LB failover; I just notice I don't have a jumper on my CMOS, should put one on there help me!!!

Ah, yea you will need to find a jumper or you may be able to just use a paper clip to jump the pins.

Hello,
You may want to try resetting the CMOS then on the board if you are sure your serial connection is okay. I wouldn't say it's overkill but the 1841s can only handle ~40Mbps / 75K PPS. If you're internet is faster than that, you may want to look into another router.
