I am trying to use an SSM-20 module in my ASA 5520, but it always boots to the "Unresponsive" state.
This happens when the ASA is first powered on with no configuration. The module stays in "Init" for about 5 minutes, then goes to "Unresponsive".
When I reset the module along with the debug module-boot command, I get no output at all from the module, and this error from the ASA:
%ASA-3-323001: Module in slot slot_num experienced a control channel
communications failure.
The ASA is unable to communicate via control channel with the module installed (in the specified slot).
Everything seems to point to a bad physical connection between the devices. But before I give up, I wanted to ask, has anybody fixed this error before, or are there any other troubleshooting steps you can recommend?
