Any assistance here would be greatly appreciated!  I have an issue with my ASA 5545-x, it refused to boot from flash. I have backup, formatted the Flash, use Rommon to boot via TFTP and it boot fine and the old configuration work. I copied the image to Flash and change the boot system variable to the new image and also changed the Config-register for it to boot from flash but when I reload, it get stuck at booting, it continue to loop  until I enter Rommon  and boot via TFTP.

Here's the output during bootup:

Is this a used appliance and has it ever worked for you?

It sounds like a hardware problem and if that's the case it'd probably need to be RMAd to Cisco (if there's a support contract).

SMartNet of the devices has expired. The device was purchased new in 2015 and was working properly until the Alert LED turned on showing Amber light and it was still working fine. Last week, the booting loop problem started, after formatting the Flash and copying the Image, the Alert LED turned off.

OK.

Have you tried opening the chassis and reseating the eUSB? That's your disk0.

You could also try using an external USB stick. Be sure to format it as FAT32 and then tell the ASA to boot an image from it (disk1).

Thank you very much.

I have not try to reseat the eUSB, only the RAM, but I have placed a USB which is Fat16 formatted and I could see the files on it from the ASA. I placed the ASA Image in Disk1:

I have tried this line

ASA#(Config) system disk1:/asa992-smp-k8.bin. saved and reloaded the ASA but it continue with the issue, boot looping and the error I complained about.

I made research on eUSB and saw a bug that is similar to the problem https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCug52259/?rfs=iqvred

It says, it might be BIOS problem. How can I update the BIOS of ASA5545-x

Thank you very much.

You could very well be hitting that bug.

Unfortunately the BIOS is not published publicly. As the BugID indicates, TAC needs to provide it and that requires a support contract on the appliance.

I will try and get SmartNet contract on it. Put there is a lot of Contract available for the devices. Please advice on the appropriate contract that will allow for BIOS update and software Image update. Thanks

Any Smartnet level entitles you to the software and TAC support.

Usually the entry level a lot of small businesses opt for is SNT 8x5xNBD. that also includes hardware replacement (Next Business Day or NBD shipping) should a hardware fault occur
