ASA 5550 active port availability

Hi everyone

with the 5550 we get 4 gig ports on slot 0 and 8 gig ports on slot 1, also a fast ethernet management interface port.

The documentation states that only 8 ports can be active at any one time but does that exclude this manament port so that I can use this as well ?

Also is the port assignments for slot 1 like g1/0 - 1/7 ? As the other the 8 ports in slot 1 are 4 x gig E and 4 x gig sfp.

Cheers

Tony

Hi Tony,

What documentation are you referring, can you paste the link??

Yes, the slot 0 would be:

gig 0/0

gig0/1

gig0/2

gig0/3

Slot 1

gig1/0

gig1/1

gig1/2

gig1/3

Thanks,

Varun

Hi Tony,

I guess you are referring to the datasheet:

Note:

The system provides a total of 12  Gigabit Ethernet ports, of which only 8 can be in service at any time.  Businesses can choose between copper or fiber connectivity, providing  flexibility for data center, campus, or enterprise edge connectivity.

Yes thats correct you can only have 8 gig ports active at one time, although you can create logical interfaces if your requirement is for more. That completely exclude the management interface.

Thanks,

Varun
