Hello,

I have 2 ASA-5585-X-SSP-20 and I have configured them in active/standby failove mode.

but when primary active device going down secondary standby device act as Active and primary device as failed.

But when primary devices coming UP still Secondary device working as active and Primary devicesas standby ready.

My question is why Primay device not changing his role as active after down..

What configuration I need to do for same..

Thanks & Regards,

Prem Prakash

Hi

Preemption is only available in Active/Active mode.

"Restoring a failed unit to an unfailed state does not automatically make it active; restored units remain in the standby state until made active by failover (forced or natural). An exception is a failover group (Active/Active mode only) configured with failover preemption. If previously active, a failover group becomes active if it is configured with preemption and if the unit on which it failed is the preferred unit."

Hi Prem,

There is no pre-empt option in the active standby failover in ASA.

Preempt option is only available in multiple context mode where failover group can be configured
