Hi all,

I try to upgrade IPS sp 40 but have this error:

Error: execUpgradeSoftware : idsPackageMgr: error creating temp file (out of disk space)AnalysisEngine is currently busy and unable to process this update.  Please wait several minutes before attempting update again.

How and what files must delete to make free space ??

Out of space 7.1.x upgrade failures
CSCuc29807
Symptom:
Upgrade to 7.1.X runs out of space with one of the two following errors:

Error: execUpgradeSoftware : idsPackageMgr: error creating temp file (out of disk space)
OR
Error: execUpgradeSoftware : The update requires 47145 KB in /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates, there are only 44623 KB available aft
er pmz cleanup.

Conditions:
Sensor filesystem ran out of space during the upgrade installation process.

Workaround:
The following files are not needed to perform the upgrade and can be removed to increase Available space:

1) log into the service account
2) "su" to root (same pw as service account pw)
3) rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/etc/current.cfg
4) rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/etc/backup.cfg
NOTE: The above two files would only exist if a CLI command like "copy current-config backup-config" was run.
5) rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/events.tar.gz
6) ls -l /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates/logs/Pre*.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 cids cids 239014 Jul 23 13:15 Pre7164cidDump.html.gz
rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates/logs/Pre7164cidDump.html.gz
7) rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/packet-file
NOTE: The above file would occur if a "packet capture" command had been run on the sensor.
8) These files may be left over from failed signature updates, and can be removed:
rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates/files/common/edc.full.xml
rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates/logs/sigupdate.log
9) ls -l /usr/cids/idsRoot/var/updates/backups
-rw-r--r-- 1 root cids 159734 Sep 18 05:04 SigCategories.xml.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root cids 543 Sep 18 05:04 default.sig.xml.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root cids 876753 Sep 18 05:04 default.xml.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root cids 215 Sep 18 05:04 history.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 101412 Sep 18 05:04 instances.tar.gz
-rw-r--r-- 1 root cids 136 Sep 18 05:04 package.gz
NOTE: The files above are necessary for performaning a downgrade from the current sigupdate. They will be lost during the 7.1.x upgrade. Therefore, they are not needed.

10) ls -l /usr/cids/idsRoot/log:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root cids 11972437 Aug 20 22:36 cidDump.html
rm /usr/cids/idsRoot/log/cidDump.html

NOTE: Avoid using the astrisk with the rm command due to potential of removing needed files.

The minimum space requirement for upgrade is around 90 MB . Customers should ensure that 90 MB of free space is available (especially on SSP20 and 4345) before upgrade to or from 7.1(6) release
