ASA 5585-X Licensing

Hi,

I have registered the license purchased for the ASA 5585X appliances and have received the following listed as features.

> Failover : Enabled
> Encryption-DES : Enabled
> Encryption-3DES-AES : Enabled
> Security Contexts : 20
> GTP/GPRS : Disabled
> AnyConnect Premium Peers : Default
> Other VPN Peers : Default
> Advanced Endpoint Assessment : Disabled
> AnyConnect for Mobile : Disabled
> AnyConnect for Cisco VPN Phone : Disabled
> Shared License : Disabled
> UC Phone Proxy Sessions : Default
> Total UC Proxy Sessions : Default
> AnyConnect Essentials : Disabled
> Botnet Traffic Filter : Disabled
> Intercompany Media Engine : Disabled
> 10GE I/O Plus : Disabled

I require 10 GE interfaces and the appliance has been licensed for 10Gb (I think).

Is this something that has to be activated?

Marvin is correct that the SSP-10 does not automatically include the SEC-PL. The specific top level sku you are using is a bundle that in an enhancement over the standard hardware. See attached screenshot. The "X" indicated the inclusion of the SEC-PL and redundant power supply.

Hi Gary,

I agree with you and also that Marvin is correct.

The answer was related to the X bundle and if it has the SEC license included.

Non X bundle has the SEC-PL licenses as a selected and chargeable item still.

That is because the ASA5585-S10X-K9 includes the Security Plus license and redundant power supplies.

If you specified the ASA5585-S10-K9 SKU instead then you would not get the Sec Plus or redundant power supplies.

Hi All .....Need to know ASA5585-S10X-K9  come with ASA5585-SEC-PL    ASA 5585-X Security Plus License  or need to purchase separately ..for Enabling  10G SFP+ Ports

It's not automatically included on the SSP 10 models. However when your reseller builds a Bill of Materials in Cisco's ordering system, it's a configuration option.

EDIT - As Ashley pointed out and Gary confirmed, the S10X variant does include the Security Plus license. If the "X" is omitted, that SKU does not include the license.
