We are looking at implementing wccp for web filtering.
I have read the asa config guide and also
dug through the forum, I have a question that I really couldn't
find an answer for. My question is this: does the web filter appliance need
to be addressed on the same network as the inside interface, or can it be
addressed on a network that is reachable via the inside interface.
example and I'll keep it simple. example is an asa with just an inside and
outside. If the inside interface of the asa is addressed as 10.20.30.1/24,
One of the routes defined on the inside interface is 10.255.255.0/24. Does
the webcache need to be addressed on the 10.20.30.0/24 network, or can it
be addressed on the 10.255.255.0/24 network, since it is reachable via the
inside interface where all the client traffic will be coming form?
Any help is appreciated and I hope my question is clear enough. Thanks - chris

It just needs to be connected via the same interface, however, it does not need to be directly connected in the same subnet.
Here is more information on WCCP on ASA for your reference:

Hope that helps.
