ASA-AWS Unable to access software updates

Hello,

we have an AWS ASAv deployed and want to perform a software upgrade to the latest stable versions. I've gone through all the relevant docs and forum posts to ensure I have a good grasp on the process and from my observation all should be good to roll out updates.

However when wanting to download the relevant software I'm running into a Service Contract Required popup informing me that...

To Download this software, you must have a valid service contract associated to your Cisco.com profile.
If you do not have a service contract you can get one through:

  • Your Cisco Account Team if you have a direct purchase agreement with Cisco
  • Your Cisco Partner or Reseller

It is my assumption that by being subscribed to the AWS ASAv, at over $4K/year, software updates would be included. So I tried registering the serial to our Cisco account, which failed as the serial is not recognized. I enabled the Registered Smart Call Home but ran into the trouble with the SCH Portal to create a request as the Supply Chain user registration process was not completed. I suspect the SCH Portal is not the proper solution going by this messaging.

I opened a support case with AWS to gain some insights on this matter but they were unable to provide any information to unblock software updates for us.

So what I would like to know is:

  • are software updates included in the pricing of the AWS ASAv subscription and
    • if so, how to I gain access to the downloads?
  • If software upgrades are not included,
    • what cost are we looking at for a service contract for a single ASAv instance?
    • or would it be possible to simply replace the instance based on an updated AMI? As the entire deployment and configuration is managed and automated in code?

Thanks for your insights on this.
