Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance Software Version 9.1(2)

Device Manager Version 7.1(3)

 

Hardware:   ASA5515, 8192 MB RAM, CPU Clarkdale 3059 MHz, 1 CPU (4 cores)

            ASA: 4096 MB RAM, 1 CPU (1 core)

 

 

Q1. What is the minimum version for ASA that requires a Smart License?

 

Q2. Direct upgrade from 9.1 to 9.8?? Do I need to upgrade step by step??

ASA hardware appliances never use smart licensing. Only ASAv or ASA image on Firepower hardware appliance uses Smart Licensing.

ASA 9.1(2) to 9.8(x) is a direct upgrade. Reference the release notes for confirmation:

Hi

 

Smart licenses are for ASAv and ASA on Firepower device.

For ASA 5515X, you still need the old fashion license code that TAC can generate if you purchased a license.

From your actual version 9.1.2, you can jump straight to 9.8.
