Hi,

There is no risk in enabling ASDM(GUI interface) on ASA.

Here is the link to configure ASDM : http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa71/configuration/guide/mgaccess.html#wp1047288

Please ensure incase you are configuring ASDM access from outside that your password is strong and can't be compromised. Also, enable it for selected know hosts.

Once the ASDM is configured, if  you look under the "File" menu in ASDM you will see a few options for  viewing and saving the running config. The easiest way is probably to  select "Show running configuration in new window" and copy or save it  from the window that opens.

Hope this helps. Please reply if you need further assistance.

Chirag
