ASA5580-40 Memory upgrade failing

I added more memory in asa5580-40 and all I get is beeping sound with LED red on SYSTEM.

I added from 12 to 32, I could not find any documentation about the maximum memory for asa5580-40

Nothing is showing in the console.

Any help or info, I appreciate it.

Thank you

Allan

hi,

i think you're doing an overload and you'll just need 12 GB RAM (which is standard) to run the newer ASA codes (8.3+).

see useful link:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/asa/asa83/release/notes/asarn83.html#wp37821

Thanks for replying.

The reason I'm upgrading it is because I'm getting a MEMPOOL_DMA 77% and at one point we reach 92% that causes my site-to-site to fail to establish connection.  Unfortunately we remove this device in our smartnet contract due to EOL and EOS,  I can't open a TAC case for it.

Inside the 5580-40 has 32 slot for RAM, so just I'm assuming that it can take 32GB.

Yes I've read this link but it specify DRAM (Default Shipping)
