Its always redirect to java installation page .   My desktop machine run below version of Java

java version "1.8.0_221"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_221-b11)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.221-b11, mixed mode, sharing)

you need java download and given permission to ASDM :

Add a security exception for the ASA in the Java Control Panel, so that you could launch the current ASDM image and upgrade it from within ASDM:

     - Open Java Control Panel

        * on Windows: Start > Control Panel > Java Control Panel

        * on Mac: click on Java icon in System Preferences

     - Go to the Security tab

     - In the Exception Site List section at the bottom, click Edit Site List and add the ASA you want to manage with           ASDM:

           https://x.x.x.x

where is the IP address of the ASA.

I had to downgrade my version to Java 1.8.0_211-b12 to make ASDM work again.
