Dear Pros,

Today I started to configured 2 IPS 4240 sensors. Each one has 4 sniffing inteerfaces.

I want to configure the sensor in in line mode not as IDS mode. I have th network with multible vlans.PIX in failover mode with inside zone connected to the core switch router vlan with L3 segment in 192.168.101.0

Here both pix inside interface are connected with IP of 192.168.101.2 and 192.168.101.3 for standby with the gateway of 192.168.101.1 (core router SVI for pix segment. There is only one dmz right now we are using.

The requitrement is to protect the inside network, dmz and outside the pix firewall.

but inside network span to multiple buildings with different vlans.

Please how can i configure the IPS in inline mode to get the above requiement.

I know that we need 2 sniff interfaces of IPS to protect one zone ie.one network.

I need to install the IPS today itself.

Please Help me to provide the configuration handson and other necessary stuffs.

thanks

swamy

You can associate VLANS in pairs on a physical interface. This is known as "inline on a stick." Packets received on one of the paired VLANS are analyzed and then forwarded to the other VLAN in the pair. Inline VLAN pairs are supported on all sensors that are compatible with IPS 5.1 except NM-CIDS, AIP-SSM-10, and AIP-SSM-20. Refer the following URL for more info

Pradeep,

In this to work, I need to connect the ips interface to the trunk configured switch port.Am i correct?

Aslo if i want to use individual ips port for each vlan (2xips=8 ports=8 vlans to be monitored) how to connect the ips ports and configure the sensor?

Please

Thanks
