broadcast traffic on the PIX interface

Hello All,

The scenario is as below.

I've a server on the inside interface whose default gateway is a router (which is still behind the PIX)The actual config on the server should have been a default gateway pointing to the PIX rather than the router.

I do a debug on the inside interface for the Server's IP and I see only broadcast traffic hitting the FW.

What does this mean ? Why am I getting BC traffic and what does it signify ?

It means that the router either doesn't have it's default route pointing to the PIX, or the router will not re-route packets received on that interface.

The broadcast packets are normal, as every device on that Layer 2 segment will get the same broadcast packet.
