We have a site to site VPN tunnel between a 1760 and a Concentrator. We noticed over 100% to 156% utilization on the link then found that both ends were set (by default?) for 9kb of bw.
There are no dropped packets just real high util at 9kb. There is no QOS running and the transport is DSL. In order to bring down the util, should be adj our bandwidth or perhaps change MSS? Any reference material available?

hi
Are you talking about a GRE tunnel created between your devices ? Then in that case you can change the bandwidth at the router end to the physical (DSL) bandwidth available to u ..
you can change the same by using bandwidth command under the tunnel interface followed by the assigned bandwidth by the SP.
once you are done with this you can check out the exact utilisation on the tunnel interface.
also if you want to check out the geniunity of the traffic traversing thru the router you can enable netflow under the ethernet interface and check out the kinda traffic being proceeseed and being sent out to the remote vpn destination.

Hi,
I the bandwitdh utilization figure is high (actually may be not be) , just because ur tunnel interface has a default bandwidth of 9k. Bandwitdh command on interface has no effect on traffic moving through it. Its just for routing protocol to calculate metric/cost..(ospf)..

Gaurav
