can you change an azure FTD SKU?

I recently built two new firewalls for our platform migration. Which was all fine and now in production.

The problem I have is the SKU i used (D5_v2) is being retired in 2028.    The other compatible SKU that has the 8 nics I require is D16s_v3, which is also supported by cisco (see below).  This doesn't look to be on the retirement list.

with a proper maintenance window.  Can i just change the SKU being used on the firewall in Azure and all will be well with config/interfaces etc.   I can't seem to find a procedure for this.

Thanks
MW

The FTDv license tier is not tied to the compute instance type. If you want to change the compute instance type you will have to redeploy the FW appliances. Let me know if I did not understand the question.

I'm not sure about this one. Perhaps @nspasov knows?

Thank you nspasov.  By redeploy you mean the device will need setting up as new?

I am checking on this further and will give an update.

I was able to confirm my original response. Changing the compute instance type is possible, but not officially supported. Thus, the recommendation is to deploy new vFTDs on the new compute instances.
