Cannot contact URL by ping

We have recently switched from an on premise Exchange server to Office 365.  I am trying to configure Unified Message (voicemail to email) on our Unity Connection box.  We are using version 8.6.2ES25.21900-25.  Using the Cisco guide I believe that everything is configured correctly.  When I run the test on the Unified Messaging Service I set up for Office 365 it confirms that the server domain name can be resolved.  However, I receive the message below.  I'm not sure what's causing this issue.  Can anyone let me know what I should check?

Issue: Server outlook.office365.com cannot be contacted by pinging.

Recommendation: Confirm that the systems service ports are functioning.

Details: This check uses a low level protocol, such as ICMP ECHO, and may not work through firewalls.

I see on the ASDM that when I run the test on the Unity I receive the following error for the source IP which is the Unity.  "NAT pool exhausted.  Unable to create ICMP connection from inside: (IP of Unity)/0 to outside 132.245.17.34/0"

Hi,

If you are seeing the issue with the same logs on the ASDM related to this traffic , it is related to NAT on the ASA device.

I would request you to post the NAT configuration from the ASA device.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi,

Based on the ASDM logs, it looks like the ASA is running out of usable ports for NAT.

You can run command show nat pool and check for the allocated ports for IP used for NAT.

If the ports are getting exhausted then you should check if there should be so many connections for this NAT rule. If yes then you should add another IP for the NAT rule. In case the number of NAT for this particular IP is too high and not normal in your network then you should look if there is some misconfiguration or check for the source of traffic and inspect the applications running on it (possibility of some malicious software.).

Do let us know your findings.

Hope it helps!!!

Thanks,

R.Seth
