Cisco 5508-X FTD software update errors

Hello, I'm getting the following errors when trying to perform a software update from our centralized Cisco FMC to a Cisco 5508-X FTD appliance. Trying to update the FTD to version 6.2.0.2 from 6.2.0.

Error1: <MGMT_IP> : Unknown fatal error : Execution terminated. Previous state: Initializing
Error2: <MGMT_IP> : Update Install failed.

FMC Model: Cisco Firepower Management Center 4000
FMC Software Version: 6.2.1 (build 342)

FTD Model: ASA 5508-X with FirePOWER services
Cisco Fire Linux OS v6.2.0 (build 42)
Cisco ASA5508-X Threat Defense v6.2.0 (build 363)

Have tried rebooting the FTD several times. We have another FTD as same site that the s/w update worked without issue. We've used the same process on many other FTDs across our network.

Has anyone seen this? Any solution or work-around that you could suggest?

Thank you

Hi,

I have had my issues with upgrades and it sounds like you need to contact Cisco TAC for this one.

You can check the 5508 logs. There should be a directory under /var/sf/update specific to the 6.2.0.2 update with log files showing where the update failed. (You need to switch to expert mode from the ftd cli shell to get into the bash shell.)

If you're not adept in working with the expert mode and moving around in a Linux filesystem (or sometimes even if you are) it's usually best to just open a TAC case for such problems.
