The signature would be used to verify the image. Not sure if this is a bug as I have been unable to find any related documentation for it, but I assume that it might have something to do which how the image is packaged by Cisco (I get the same error). To verify the image use the verify command from the CLI and compare the hash with the hash found on the Cisco download site for the image you are downloading.

I got the same error when copying to an ASA 5506-X running ASA software 9.15(1)7. It occurs whether I use tftp or ftp copy methods. The copied file does check out fine though.
Interestingly I don't get the error when copying to an ASAv running 9.15(1).
I also do not get any error when uploading to an FMC and then deploying to a Firepower 1140 appliance running FMC/FTD 6.7.0.1

Hi,
I am having the same issue on ASA 5525x but it does not copy over, the hash checks out fine.
How do I still get the ASDM .bin file to transfer over ...?

run the cli command verify disk0:/asdm-openjre-7161-150.bin
does it still produce the error or does it give the correct or incorrect hash?

It does not transfer over to be able to run the "verify" command. It does not show in "sh disk0"

@Marius Gunnerud @Marvin Rhoads @Alex Ribas
Sorry sorry sorry, I miss read the article below. We have a 5525x and it's on the latest version it can handle for the ASA image and I was mistakenly trying to upgrade to an ASDM module that was higher than it can handle. Sorry for wasting your time. I have not received the correct software but I am sure that will fix it. thank you for taking the time to provide an assist @Marius Gunnerud
