The ASAv is a stateful firewall like the regular ASA. The included IPS is very limited (and typically not really relevant) and there is no Anti-Malware as there is no FirePOWER with the ASAv.
Its installed as a VM on the hypervisor of your choice (ESXi, HyperV, KVM, AWS). The resources depend on the throughput that you have licensed.
