Licenses are delivered usually in the Cisco Smart Account for every customer who purchases licenses. Your device will connect to Cisco Smart Account and consume the licenses it needs.
More information you can find in the document provided https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/licensing/faq/firepower-license-FAQ.html

As already mentioned, depending on the features you would like to run the FTD you decide which licenses you need to buy. The licenses would be aligned to your smart account, and then you generate a token from the smart account and you use it in the FMC to connect the FTD to that smart account.
Also, please keep in mind that if you don't want to use any next gen security features, you would be entitled to get the base license which you should still apply to the firewall. Same as before, that license should be placed into your smart account which will then be parsed by the firewall through the generated token.

Hello @DG9 ,
You will need to order some licenses after the 90 days. What exact licenses depends on your specific needs and how do you plan to manage your firewall.
Have a look at the following document for details https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/firepower/licensing/faq/firepower-license-FAQ.html

Dear Team,
Thank you for your reply.
I got your point but remain one query is as you mention ( The licenses would be aligned to your smart account ) so license aligned to account automatically by licensing team or we need to do it manually on smart account ?

You're welcome. When you purchase the licenses Cisco will ask you some details during the selling process, one of those details would be your smart account details and which virtual account (if you have more than one) inside your smart account should have those licenses aligned to.

You must complete Smart License registration from the Firepower Device Manager using a token that you have generated on your CSSM portal at software.cisco.com. Once registered, FDM will check for available license in your portal and associate them withe the device according to the device configuration. As noted by @Aref Alsouqi that includes at a minimum the Base license. Optional licenses are Threat (IPS) , Malware, URL Filtering and remote access VPN.

The licenses will be delivered by Cisco automatically in your Smart Account based the configured Smart Account when you place the order.

Hi @DG9,
You must log into your smart account and generate a token and copy it. After this procedure, access the administration of your FPR1010E, go to license, and add the created token.
This procedure will automatically connect the FPR1010E to your smart account dashboard and make the licenses available so they can be applied.
