Hi,
I recently stumbled across an unused 4215 IDS which my predecessor had forgotten to mention. I have absolutely no training or experience configuring these devices and have been attempting the "pick it up as you go along method" with help from TAC.
Its running version 4.1 I have configured one senor interface which seems to be working and the control interface. I’ve done nothing else with it.
I can access the IDS Device manager using a browser interface but when I attempt to connect to the IDS (from the same PC also using HTTPS) via the IDS Event viewer which I recently downloaded. I get this error message … "IOException: Connection refused: connect" "IEV server is not responding. Please check if it is running".
I expect its something simple that I’ve overlooked. Can anyone advise?

I've found the solution - the cisco ids event viewer service wasn't starting on the PC. 8-)
