Hi,

We've cisco sourcefire 8140 having 1 inline set and two security zones.

Recently, we noticed a warning msg in health monitor on FMC regarding the sensor :

"Module Process Status: The Intelligent Platform Management Interface daemon exited 5 times"

Any ideas on what the problem might be since we need to update the IPS signature but we are afraid because of this alarm.

Thank you.

Hello,

The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) daemon communicates with the component which is used for Lights Out Management (LOM). It is a separate board which remains on even when the chassis is shut down. Maybe that component went bad or just needs to be reset (or maybe even false positive?).

I suggest opening a Cisco TAC case and have them troubleshoot the IPMI. But this component has nothing to do with rule signature updates. Those should succeed regardless of that alarm.
