Do you have Software Application Support with Upgrade (SASU) contract coverage for your LMS 4.0 product?

If so, you are entitled to upgrade to Prime Infrastructure (PI) which runs on a separate server from LMS. PI does not have 100% feature parity but you could start managing your WLC and associated APs with it as well as some of the switches.

If you're happy with PI, you could add some licenses and retire your LMS. If not, you can just keep using LMS for now, adding licenses to it and managing the WLC. You should upgrade your LMS to the latest version (Prime LMS 4.2.5 as of right now).

LMS will give you only limited functionality on the wireless management side while PI's strength is in that arena as it originally came from the old Wireless Control System (WCS) product.

Dear Marvin

We haven't SASU :(

We upgarde LMS & its license to 200 device.

Later maybe buy & install WCS for manage Wireless Network.

Is upgrade LMS from 4.0 to above version is free?

Gramercy

You're welcome.

Without a support contract, there are no "free" upgrades. That's Cisco's business model to keep revenue coming in. :)

You can try out Prime Infrastructure (PI) - I believe customers can get a limited time trial via www.cisco.com/go/nmsevals. My login is as partner so I don't see the current end customer offerings but I am pretty sure they still offer that.

WCS is a discontinued product. PI is the current offering.
