Hy all!

I become crazy, I d'ont understand what's happen...

I've set my pix 501 to connect through my DSL modem in bridge mode and I've starting to connect but the connection hangs off sometimes, not really disconnected but i.e I'm unable to resolve outside server names... I can ping its on IP address not in names.

I don't understand too the pppoe setroute if I have a static public IP.?? ow can I do, because if I set it static, I don't have the default route..

Thank you top explain me what's about..!

Sorry... I know it, and sincerely this doc makes me crazy..it didn't help me anymore

Anything else except this.?

Thanks anyway

If you have a static IP address, you don't must of command setroute, this command will apply a default gateway automatically. The correct is that use this command:

ip address ifname ipaddress mask pppoe

(example (ip address outside 201.n.n.n 255.255.255.0 pppoe))

In every case, you will need a default gateway, the command for this case is:

route outside 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 *default gateway ip address*

Does this help you?

Thank you for this answer....

I'm ok to set in static mode my outside interface but which gateway (ISP) does I have to set the default route..??? I don"t really know it..?

The first time I connect it was 195.115.91.21 and the second time 195.114.91.22

So, I'll try to set it static like I'm used to do and like you told me and try to set manually the gateway.

I'll tell you what's about!

Cheers

If your ISP liberates for you a IP address static you can ask him on your gateway.

Generally, if you can ping an IP address but not the corresponding name, then there is something wrong with the name lookup. Usually it is either because you have typed the name wrongly and the DNS does not recognise it, or your machine does not know the address of the DNS server.

Do you know the address of the DNS server? Or if you are using an internal DNS server, has the PIX cut it off from the outside world?
