Solved: Convert ASA-5506 to FTD

Hi,

As far as I can see it is only possible to order the ASA-5506 as an ASA with Firepower services (ASA5506-FPWR-BUN) as compared to say the 5508 which can be ordered as either FP services (ASA5508-FPWR-BUN) or as an FTD (ASA5508-FTD-BUN)

So my question is, is it technically possible to convert an ASA-5506 to an FTD, and is this supported by Cisco.

It is, but the 5506 is not supported by FTD any longer (last supported version was v6.2.3.x, FTD is now on v6.7). Your options, then, are to use the ASA5506 device in ASA+FP mode, legacy FTD mode or upgrade the hardware to a FPR1010 (which is way cheaper than the ASA5506 was).
