Hi All,

I have been unboxing Cisco ASA 5512-X and I am already configure :

  • Enable telnet access from inside.
  • Configure aaa authentication telnet console LOCAL.
  • username and password for User Local.

When I am telnet the device and input username password from LOCAL always wrong username password.

I also already input username/password :

  • cisco/-blank-
  • cisco/cisco
  • cisco/Cisco
  • admin/Admin
  • admin/admin

Still not successfull.

There someone could solve my issue ?

Thanks,

Khoirul

There is no default telnet password (any more). You have to use the username/password you configured. If that doesn't work, you probably mistyped something. Add another user and try that.

And of course, a security device should be managed with SSH and not with Telnet.

Hi Karsten,

  • If I mistyped something, should I couldn't login to ASDM using the username/password.
  • You're right the security device always use SSH for the access, but this is requested from my customer. Their need to open Telnet and SSH. If I could login to Telnet access use the username password should I also could login to SSH access use that account

SSH/ASDM should also authenticate with the local accounts if you configure the ASA to use the local database:

aaa authentication ssh console LOCAL
aaa authentication http console LOCAL
