Delay the boot of IOS

Hi,

I had a question regarding delaying the boot sequence of IOS, specifically for a Cisco ASA 5525 firewall.

The reason for this is because the firewalls are regularly powered up and down, and they are in an active/standby configuration. The problem is when they are powered, they power at the same time and often the main firewall ends up in standby mode and the backup firewall ends up in active. Which isn't how I want them to be on startup, I only ever want the backup firewall to become active if the main firewall fails.

I've googled around a bit but couldn't find anything obvious, I just assumed delaying the boot of the backup firewall would give the main firewall time to boot and take precedence first. But maybe there is a better way of doing this?

If anybody could share any advice I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

hi,

you can tweak the polltime/holdtime to delay the pre-emption on both units.

IMHO if power is unstable, i would install a UPS instead.
