Documentation supporting ASA fails closed

Is there any documentation from Cisco stating that an ASA fails to a closed or secure state when the firewall filtering function or operation is failing?  Google shows this questions being asked and answered stating that the ASA fails closed, but I am not able to find any vendor documentation on this.  This particular ASA does not have IPS,

i do not believe this feature available on ASA (not i aware of it) - if one of the port fails, the Device stop handling the traffic in short.
