Hi
I have an IPS 4240 & IME V7.
I was wondering how i can upload a new config file & save it to flash. I know i can just console on & copy & paste it in, but is it possible to upload the .txt file using copy tftp flash: or using the IME, or can i copy it on to a flash card & insert this into the IPS & copy it from there?
I want the new file save to flash & to be able to specify in the startup config.
Ive not used IPS before so apologies for the dumb question

Sensor configuration management doesn't work the same way as it does for the router and switch IOS.
Unless you want to drop into the (unsupported) Linux shell that the CLI and GUI run on, there isn't a method of doing what you you want. You can push a new configuration into the sensor via IME.
If you want to go the Linux route, you'll have to make yourself a Service Account on the sensor.

seems you are looking for Re-image/Recovery stuff
3 way to do it
1) Application Image
only network settings will be restored rest all will be erased
(conf t)# recover application-partition
2) Recovery image
same as above but is a fresh version of Application image
3) System image
IPS# rest
its in case you have missed all the options just go to factory default
