Enabling Firepower SNMP via Firepower Device Manager (no FMC)

All,

I have a use case where we are positioning an ASA/FPR with FTD image to perform functionality (simple URL filtering) where FDM is a preferred management tool.

However we would like to poll snmp on that device directly.

We have investigated this and have not been able to find a non-FMC method for enabling SNMP.

Is there a CLI workaround, is this on roadmap, is there another option (FMC like FlexConfig)?  Do I need to select ASAs with the dual image to be able to gain this feature?

Cheers

Hey, your question piqued my interest and it's something that I will need to solve myself, so I wrote a blog article outlining how to configure SNMPv3 with FDM.

Greetings,

Yes you can do this via FDM only, but you will need to use flex config policy. They give some SNMP examples in the flexconfig 6.2.3 documentation here.

Hope that helps and if you found this response helpful, please upvote the solution by clicking the little star.

Thanks much!
