error running asdm 6.4 on icedtea (ubuntu)

hello i have been trying to run my asdm 6.4 on my machine. i get to the page and get the download link, but when i run the ASDM.jnlp on my machine i get an error from the icedtea.

hello,

not sure if you still need solution, but here's my two cents...

default asdm uses oracle jre version 8, so you have to install it. since jre 8 is not officialy supported on distributions like ubuntu via repository, you have to manually install it.

download archive from oracle site, and you can use this script to install it.

after installation, make sure that you're using freshly installed oracle 8 jre by entering (debian/ubuntu):

sudo update-alternatives --config java

 

you can open asdm from cli too by entering "javaws https://<IP>/admin/public/asdm.jnlp"
