I have a firepower chassis running an ASA OS code which has 3 used interfaces right now. From the Firepower chassis I want to add another data interface so the total on ASA OS becomes 4.
My question is, after I add the data interface to a running ASA OS from Chassis management page would I need to restart the ASA OS or the interface would popup just after adding?

I believe editing data interfaces do not require a reboot, only editing the management or event interfaces will require a reboot.

I dont think its clear
Step 3 Unallocate a data interface by de-selecting the interface in the Data Ports area. Step 4 Allocate a new data interface by selecting the interface in the Data Ports area. Step 5 Replace the management or eventing interface: For these types of interfaces, the device reboots after you save your changes. Click the device icon in the center of the page. On the General/Cluster Information tab, choose the new Management Interface from the drop-down list.
I dont understand what it means when the documentation says "For these types of interfaces, the device reboots after you save your changes". Does it mean data+management or management only, if it had to be management interface only maybe they should have used the world "this" rather than "these"

They are using "these" because they are referring to the management and eventing interfaces mentioned in Step 5.
Maybe it is a bit more clearer stated above: "management interface changes cause a reboot".
