I'm someone who is confused by licensing, hopefully someone can clear this up.
I have a Cisco ASA5506X test setup that has the URL, AMP, IPS keys installed via ASDM.
I downloaded the Firepower Mgmt. Center 6.1.0 VM and tried connecting to the ASA.
I wanted to use the eval. period to check out FMC.
However, it appears the licensing on the ASA doesn't apply to the FMC. Do I need separate licenses for FMC in addition to those on the ASA or do I need to reinstall those licenses on the FMC?

You need to first register the ASA to FMC (and vice versa) and then apply licenses from the FMC to the newly-managed ASA.
FirePOWER licenses are tied to the license key (combination of platform model ID and MAC address) of the managing FMC so you would have to rehost the ones you originally used from ASDM.
You can only manage a given FirePOWER service module from a single manager - ASDM or FMC-based - at a time.
