Is there any way, that a fmc managed ftd can act as ntp server for other devices. fmc,ftd.ntp

I running fmc 1700 version 7.7.0 and ftd 1220cx

Thanks Carsten.

Hello Carsten,

I am pretty sure that this will not happen as such a feature would simply not fit into today's requirements of secure networking.

It is best practice to set up your own ntp servers using either GPS/GNSS satellite or MSF/DCF77 radio signals as a reliable source.

As a last resort you could use public ntp servers but this is not really recommended for enterprise networks depending on your security requirements.

Hello @Carsten Peukert,

the short answer is no.

It is best practice to use the same ntp servers for fmc and ftd. In case the ntp servers are unreachable, the ftd synchronizes its time with the management center. However, there is no option to configure a ftd as ntp server for other devices.

Thanks Jens for the answer.

I was hoping it would work by now. Then we'll have to look for another solution for the replaced Cisco routers.

Is such a feature perhaps planned?

No option and none planned as far as I know. Best practice is to use a public stratum 0 or stratum 1 ntp server. You can use the FMC, but it's a less precise server and not generally recommended. FTD cannot be used at all.
