On a Firepower 4140, if you already have a single native instance of an FTD running on the chassis, is it possible to add container instances after that? or would you have to delete the native instance and start over?
Thank you.

native take all HW resource of ONE security module, if You have other security module I think you can add container without any issue.

As noted already, native and container instances cannot coexist on a single security module. All models except the 9300 are single SM devices.
