Hi,
I've reimaged my lab Firepower 1010 a couple of times via an USB stick and it's working really good.
Now, I need to reimage a faulty ASA 5508-X that are located in another part of the world and I'm quite sure it's not possible to use a USB stick to reimage ASA hardware, but I just want to make sure.
It would be easier if I can just let them download the image on an USB stick and give me console access instead of having them install a local TFTP and FTP server.
Thanks

Yes you can do that. Just be sure the USB drive is formatted with fat32 file system. When you plug it in, it will be recognized as disk1. You can do anything that you can with the internal disk0.

Not sure never tried it, but ASA 5508-X do have USB port that should work i guess.
If that not going toi work, simce TFTP serrver on the PC and some write up how to document for the remote person to help you, with Team viewer or any Zoom call should able to fix the issue.

I just tried it on my 5506-X, but I'm having a bit of problem. I was able to load the boot image from USB without any issues from ROMMON, but I'm a bit stuck installing the FTD image. When using the system install command, I only see this options - Usage: system install [noconfirm] url (http:// or ftp:// or scp:// ) I can't find any options to install from disk1
Thanks

Correct - install has to be done via one of those supported methods once you have booted. But if you have booted you should have the basic IP connectivity required to install from a remote device.
