FWSM colapses 6509

Good day;

i am configuring cisco FWSM module on the cisco CAT6509 switch.Migrating from a pix 525.Immediately when i route traffic to the FWSM from the pix the cpu on the 6509 rises to 100% and i have observed that the process that is using most of cpu is the ios.base process.How do i correct this or what could be causing this issue.

i have attached the show cpu proc  and the show mod from the switch.

Hello

You are running a very old release of the FWSM module; the first recommendation would be to update to the latest release within your train.

You are currently running 4.0(4) and I think 4.0(14) is the latest sub-release in that major release.

Also how are you sending traffic to the FWSM? Can you please post the configuration of the host switch (Vlan groups etc.)
